Red Light Center presents the first ever Virtual Adult Convention of its kind taking place February 24-26th see http://www.adultvirtualconvention.com - see you there!
Getting back to basics with phone chat services
Back at the dawn of the millennium when broadband was
becoming ubiquitous in developed markets, it seemed that the new breed of online
cam services made possible by a faster internet had rendered the humble phone
obsolete. Finally, consumers could
actually see the object of their
desires. This was so much more
compelling than just being able to talk with her, right?
Well, yes and no. As
the late night ad spots on tabloid TV channels throughout Europe and elsewhere
bears witness, there is still an enormous appetite for fans of aural sex. And these services still make money,
otherwise they would not exist.
For whilst it is true that men are usually aroused by
what we see and not hear, our biggest erogenous zone of all remains our brain –
and some sexual fantasies cannot be satiated with visuals alone.
Furthermore, when chatting to a model via cam, there are
countless potential distractions for both parties. An Instant Message alert here, and an email
there hardly lends itself to an unobtrusive one-on-one – whereas phone
liberates both the caller and the model from the web, far removed from all that
internet clutter.
So, far from killing off phone chat services, the
internet has actually created a new variant of them. Since the web powers such calls, there are
no phone companies involved in the billing – which is why we can afford to pay
the operators the lion’s share of all call revenues. Moreover, the quality of the call is often
better than if the caller had called the model direct.
Needless to say, each and every call facilitated by these
next generation pay-per-minute chat lines can and should deploy a strict ‘double
blind’ system whereby the caller never sees the operator’s real cell phone
number, and vice versa – all calls remain completely discreet and confidential.
Since the phone remains an inherently more intimate
medium than its online cousin, fans love the opportunity of reaching out to
their favourite PornStars this way – and this is reflected in the amount of
repeat callers. Think of it as a
boyfriend/girlfriend type thing – the callers probably do.
Finally, don’t assume that callers want Phonesex each
time – anecdotal feedback suggests that the majority of callers simply want to
chat. And that’s something that most
PornStars are very good at – especially when they are receiving money per
minute for the privilege of letting their fans reach out to them this way.
In conclusion, PornStars and indeed amateurs that ‘do’ Phone can start making nice
additional revenue via a device dating back to the pre-web era, whilst
benefitting from all those free advertising opportunities in the internet one –
a ‘call me now’ tweet gets the word out to a very targeted and receptive
audience.
Given that there are now more phones in the world than there
are people, talent that do not offer chat lines are simply leaving money on the
table.

How talent can reach out to their fans with DialaPornStar
As the internet has evolved, so too have the
opportunities and methods for talent within the adult entertainment industry to
reach out to their fans.
But most social media platforms do not facilitate direct interactions with fans. And if they do, more often than not they are free. Whilst this might be great for the fan, they do nothing to build the bank balance of the model.
Sure, there are cams. But most cam networks only offer voice, not phone. And as the novelty of being able to visually interact on the web recedes, talent can now adopt a 'back-to-basics' approach by offering both. Doing so offers great cross pollination opportunities: cam customers can be referred to phone, and vice versa.

Doing so offers great cross pollination opportunities: cam customers can be referred to phone, and vice versa.
This
then liberates both parties both parties from the internet, despite their phone
interaction being powered by it: after his meetings, the travelling business
executive can call his favourite PornStar whilst she is out shopping. Such services need not be marketed as a
phonesex service, but more as a ‘connect with me’ one.
And
if the model’s phone should start to ring too much, she simply raises her price
– this is dynamic capitalism at its finest!
If the caller wants to, he can also tip the model using same account
that he used to pay the call with.
All the operators that feature on www.dialapornstar.xxx can easily add their dynamic call button to their website or blog, without the surfer having to leave it. These calls can then be routed anonymously to the model’s landline or cell-phone, anywhere in the world.
Internet
savvy models can easily promote their new phonesites to a very targeted and receptive
audience. Some of the ‘no name’ models
using our platform make over $3k per week.
And that’s by charging $1.99/Min. – PornStars with a following can
charge much more.
Fans will be thrilled to have the opportunity of connecting directly to talent this way. And talent will be grateful for the new money making powers of their cell phone.

Unlike traditional 900 numbers, there is no billing cycle associated with these next generation VoIP services – operators can check how much money they have made after each call, and request this at anytime.
Other phone applications that utilize the same underlying technology include sending sexy pre-recorded wake-up calls to the model’s admirers. Customers register their numbers, together with the time that they would like to receive the call. Since customers pay a fee for this, talent can make good money for just a few minutes work.
If models have a large following, they can also host paid conference calls whereby they can talk 1:1 with selected callers, with an unlimited amount of people listening in. These are known as 'eavesdroppers' and pay the same as those that elect to join the queue for a chance to chat with the host. This allows models to make decent earnings within a relatively short timeframe.
Far from killing-off pay-per-minute phone chat services, the internet has created a new powerful variant of them.
And thanks to all those free social networking sites out there, models now a great advertising platform to tell the world about their new service.
Money talks™ with DialaPornStar !
By deploying the latest VoIP technologies, DialaPornStar is powered by the internet. But by pushing calls out to their cell phones, the talent on board are being liberated from it.
When I first got involved in the Phonesex industry way back in 1994, the web as we know did not exist. Phone back then was practically the only way to interact with models, who invariably had to work from a fixed location not least since the mobile phone networks back then were also still in their infancy.
Fast-forward to 2011. Nowadays, as the novelty of actually being able to see the model via webcam well and truly recedes, more and more talent in the adult space are adopting a back to basics approach by reaching back out to their fans via a device that by now they all have – the phone.
Whilst it is true that most men are stimulated by visuals, a straw poll I conducted earlier this year on GFY would suggest that there still remains a strong demand for phone. Posing the question ‘Is Phonesex dead?’, of the 44 respondees 14 thought that it was, 10 did not know or care, but the majority agreed with me that there will ‘always be a demand for aural sex’.
Whilst most cam networks support voice, relatively few support phone. By so doing, they allow both the customers and the models to benefit of being able to communicate on an ad hoc basis wherever they are, thus allowing for example the travelling businessman to call his favourite model whilst she is out shopping, busy spending the money she is making from the call!
With next generation pay-per-minute phone services, the customer does not usually even dial a number – rather, they enter their phone number and the system calls both parties right back. Furthermore, unlike their 900 premium rate number predecessors, such services are not confined to national boundaries: PornStars who are located in the USA can easily chat with their fans in UK or elsewhere – and vice versa.
All the PornStars that currently feature on www.dialapornstar.xxx are free to charge what they like per minute, and can share the 70% they would normally receive with selected affiliates who can help promote their new service. Using social media, internet savvy models can easily promote their new phonesites to a very targeted and thus receptive audience.

Phone vs. Cam
When chatting with industry folk at shows about pay-per-minute phonechat services, I am sometimes told that “phone is so yesterday”, or words to that effect.
In response to this, I have begun to retort with “Wrong. Cams are so yesterday”, my rationale being that visual streams on the web are nothing new, whereas the opportunities afforded by next generation VoIP voice services are.
But then the doubts started to creep in. Maybe the doubters were right? After all, Phonesex was my entry ticket into this industry, long before the advent of the web.
Perhaps I was a little too old school…
To allay such doubts, I posted a straw poll on GFY posing the question ‘Is Phonesex dead?’. Of the 44 respondees, 14 thought that it was, 10 did not know or care, but the majority agreed with me that there will ‘always be a demand for aural sex’. Which put my mind at rest.
I then started researching the industry that I proposed revisiting, and quickly learnt that it is dominated by a company called Niteflirt, in which I was somewhat surprised to learn that AT&T, Microsoft, and Ebay had a commercial interest.
Further investigations went on to reveal that many ‘flirts’ who used their platform were not happy with it. And a track-record in secrecy probably accounts for their noticeable absence on industry forums. You can even follow @niteflirtsucks on twitter.
This simply reinforced the decision to ‘go back to my roots’. But being a one man show, I was finding the technical challenges associated in launching such a platform somewhat overwhelming. So I decided to team up www.myphonesite.co.uk (MPS) which blew me away when I first saw it. MPS is a US company, and I will be helping develop their business in Europe, with a focus on the UK market where I am located.
As part of my market research, I then turned my attention to the cam networks. Whilst most of these offered voice chat in conjunction with cam over the web, most of them did not offer phone. And of those that did, the outpayments on offer to models seemed unfair.
So, what of the operator experience? Well, for starters, relative to cam, the phone is actually a great liberator, allowing them to start making money away from all that internet clutter, with no need to undress. By routing calls to their cell phones, they can start to make money wherever they are.
Furthermore, they can log in an out of the system using their smartphones, away from the constraints of the fixed-line internet.
For models with a following, this need not be marketed as a phonesex service, but more of a ‘connect with me’ one. Fans will be all too happy to pay for the buzz of being able to reach out to their heroines this way. And talent will be grateful for the extra income that this value-added service generates.
Such services can and should deploy the ‘double blind’ system, whereby the caller never sees the model’s real number, nor they theirs. Callers do not dial a number: rather, they enter theirs into the operator’s website and the system then calls both parties back.
Since there are no phone companies involved with the billing, operators can charge what they like per minute. Outpayments vary, but from what I can see MPS the most competitive - paying a generous 70%, with half of what’s left earmarked for affiliates.
But talent that sign up with MPS expecting the phone to ring without any marketing efforts on their part will be disappointed. MPS has deliberately avoided the usual ‘walled garden’ approach, allowing models to easily deploy this technology on any website or blog without customers having to leave the model’s site.
Furthermore, models that do not have a website and want to remain independent of other programs can now do so – each website created using MPS can be used to sell both digital and tangible goods. Unlimited backlinks to Amazon wish lists and so forth are fine, and models can use MPS to ask for and receive tips as well.
Combining phone with cam is relatively straightforward: models provide a visual feed for free (e.g.: Skype on mute), but in order to interact, customers must pay. This way, the phone becomes a microphone, loudspeaker and money machine bundled into one.
Whilst it is true that men are usually driven by visuals, the telephone still delivers a more intimate form of communication which the web does not deliver. Furthermore, every woman knows that there are cycles in the month where a cam show might not be appropriate.
In the cam gold rush, the ubiquitous phone has often been overlooked. By deploying the latest VoIP technologies, adult talent can now easily offer both.

How to profit from phone events
As the internet has evolved, so have the opportunities and methods for talent within the adult entertainment industry to reach out to their fans.
Whilst useful, most social media platforms do not facilitate direct interactions with fans. And if they do, more often than not they are free. Whilst this might be great for the fan, they do nothing to build your bank balance.
Sure, there are cams. But as the novelty of being able to visually interact on the web recedes, you can now adopt a 'back-to-basics' approach by reaching out to your followers via a device that they all have - the phone.
Obviously, publishing your cell phone number on your website or blog is not the way to go. However, you can easily add a dynamic widget which will show green when you are ready to take calls. These can then be routed anonymously to your landline or cell-phone, anywhere in the world.
Fans will be thrilled to have the opportunity of connecting directly to you this way. And since callers need to prepay minutes using their credit card, you can chat away safe in the knowledge that you are generating money on a per-minute basis whilst so doing.
Unlike traditional 900 numbers, there is no billing cycle associated with these next generation VoIP products and you can request out payments any time you like.
Other phone applications that utilize the same underlying technology include sending sexy prerecorded wake-up calls to your admirers. Customers register their numbers, together with the time that they would like to receive the call. Since customers pay a fee for this, you can make good money for just 40 seconds 'work'!

These are known as 'eavesdroppers' and pay the same as those that talk to you. This will allow you to make decent earnings within a relatively short timeframe.
Another advantage of phone versus cam is that you can take calls anywhere, without the need to undress. Hell, you can even make money whilst walking in the park!
Whilst some of your callers will undoubtedly expect a 'mindfuck' experience, others will simply be curious and want to chat. This in part will depend on how you market your new phone services.
Over time, you will find that you will get repeat callers coming back for more. If you want to make some serious money by reaching out to your fans this way, they will be instrumental for you so doing.
Thanks to the flexibility afforded by such technology, you can charge what you like per minute. For your sexy wake-up calls, you can charge a one-off fee of say $4.99 for the privilege of fans being woken by your sweet voice first thing in the morning!
Far from killing-off pay-per-minute phone chat services, the internet has created a new powerful variant of them.
And thanks to all those free social networking sites out there, you have a great advertising platform to tell the world about your new service.

Next generation pay-per-minute premium phone chat
At about this time last year, I needed the services of a family lawyer. Eventually I found, met, and paid one but I remember thinking at the time that I would have preferred to have paid on a per-minute basis for a telephone consultation if such a service existed. Well, soon it just might.
Thanks to cloud based VoIP technology, a new form of per-minute phone chat now is possible that allows professionals, counsellors or experts in any given field to easily create their own telephone consultancy or entertainment hot line.
This new form of pay-per-minute billing differentiates itself from traditional premium rate in a number of ways.
First off, the caller does not dial a premium rate number: rather, he or she enters their phone number into the phonesite and the system will then automatically connect the two parties.
Secondly, the caller does not pay their phone company. Instead, they use their credit or debit card to pre-pay minutes. This means that the person offering the service will not have to wait the typical 45 days or more associated with the old-style numbers for their money.
In keeping with the freemium economy, those interested in operating their own phonesite need not part with any money. Thanks to VoIP, set-up fees and monthly number rentals can now also be consigned to the history books.
Furthermore, phonesite owners can also charge what they like per minute and are not constrained by the fixed rate tariffs that were previously available.
But perhaps the biggest advantage of all afforded by this new form of per-minute phone platform is that users can reach out to a global audience and not just a national one.
This means that professionals who are fed up with ‘difficult-to-bill’ telephone consultations can point existing and prospective customers to their new phonesite and reconnect with them that way.
The old saying ‘time is money’ holds now more true more than ever. By deploying this next-generation technology, those with something of value to say can now trade the former with the latter on an ad-hoc basis.
This way, pornsatrs can reach out and offer one-on-one sessions away from all that internet clutter via a ubiquitous device that everybody has – the phone.
And thanks to social media, spreading the word about the existence of phonesites to a targeted audience has never been easier.
In conclusion, next-generation pay-per-minute phonesites allows anyone that can add value to a call to benefit from the familiarity of a device dating back to the pre-web era, whilst capitalising on the technology and free advertising opportunities in the internet one.
